  1. Folks, thinking of this for Tuesday night its a route that we done last year and we all enjoyed it. Meet at the Abbey at 18:15 where we will head out to Howwood and we can either climb the Bowfield or descend it at the end. LOOK AT THE ROUTE AND FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH IT! You might be on the front when it's time to turn, make sure you know when and where! Bring a helmet, spare tubes, tools, nutrition and Plenty fluids and a mobile phone......and your bike!!   2. Guys this Saturday we will be leaving the Town Hall for 08:00. Coastal run down through Bishopton,Greenock,Gourock, round to IBM and home. Around 50 miles. This will be a fast pace and depending on numbers i hope we can split into 2 groups. Group 1 17+ Mph Group 2 15-16 mph Cafe stop will be either back in paisley or the Farm in Inchinnan. Leaving from Paisley Town Hall at 8am, so get there just before 7.50am! Remember the essentials .   3. This Sunday we will leave the Abbey at 9am as usual and we are heading to Strathaven Via the Barrhead Dams and the A77. OOK AT THE ROUTE AND FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH IT! You might be on the front when it's time to turn, make sure you know when and where! We ride at the pace of the slowest rider on the day and we wait at the top of hills etc.......   4. This weeks Club run takes us to the Islands and the 3 Ferries. We all meet in Wemyss Bay to catch the 09:00 Ferry to Dunoon . Guys that are cycling down to Wemyss Bay meet at the Abbey at 07:00. For those taking the train down it leaves at 08:02 from Gilmour St and arrives in Wemyss Bay at 08:39. We have 3 options as usual which are. Big Ring cycle down to Wemyss Bay (29 miles 972 ft) do the 3 Ferries (45 miles 2768 ft) and cycle home from Gourock (24 miles 764 ft). Middle ring either cycle to Wemyss Bay (29 miles 972 ft) or cycle home from Gourock (24 miles 764 ft).Do the 3 Ferries (45 miles 2768 ft) Wee Ring train to Wemyss Bay do the a lap of the island and then take the train home from Gourock. LOOK AT THE ROUTE AND FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH IT! You might be on the front when it's time to turn, make sure you know when and where! This is a combined club run where no one gets left behind, We ride at the pace of the slowest rider on the day and we wait at the top of hills etc.......   5. Tuesday 16/04/2019 meet at the Abbey @18:15 we will be heading out towards Howood and climb some hills . No route as yet due to the Airport and the surrounding areas expected to be busy as a new aeroplane is due to land in Glasgow for the 1st time. So we will be avoiding the roads around it. We will be looking at approx 30 miles and 2500 ft of climbing. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ADEQUATE LIGHTS AS WE WILL BE HEADING BACK TO PAISLEY JUST AS ITS GETTING DARK !!!!!   6. Guys this Sunday is the Callander Sportive Last year we met in McLarens Sports Centre FK178JP this is right next to the sign on station. I suggest we meet in the car park around 08:30 ish and be ready to set off at 09:00 similar to last years ride. Please read the following link carefully and pay particular attention to the road conditions,Im sure if they are pointing it out on the website then the roads will be bad. The routes are available on this also: Medium Distance 55 miles /88Km Elevation 4000ft /1265mtrs Drink Stations 14 and 45miles. ( 35 and 64km ) Both with loos. Long Distance 87miles /13914Km Elevation 6000ft /1816mtrs Drink Stations 14, 45 and 65 miles. ( 22/70/104Km ) Loos at all drink stations Loop Cut Offs The private road loop will be closed at 11.30am. There will be no support after this time so please do not ride it anyway! If you are on the Medium and want to do the distance then at the next split take the Long loop. Long Loop split is at 50miles and will be closed at 1.30pm which gives you 3 hours to ride the final 37miles. At this time all riders will be diverted on to the short. This Tuesday 09/04/2019 will leave the Abbey at 18:15 and head out towards Howood where we will start with the Bowfield (B776) where we will turn at the entrance to the Club and return the same way down .Then we will head back down to Station road and head up over Bridesmill RD and onto JohnsHill where we will take a right turn at the top and head back towards Howood and climb the Bowfield again AND REPEAT. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ADEQUATE LIGHTS AS WE WILL BE HEADING BACK TO PAISLEY JUST AS ITS GETTING DARK !!!!!   9. Guys as the lighter nights are upon us its Tuesday Hill Climb Night. Last year we done repetitive hills and although very effective some folk found it not what they were looking for. So to change things we have proposed a combined ride with decent hills, these runs will be around 30 miles and around 2500 ft of climbing. This week we will kick off with the following. This Thursday will leave the Abbey at 18:15 and head out towards Howood where we will start with the Bowfield (B776) we will take a right at the entrance to the club and head back down to Station road and head up over Bridesmill RD and onto JohnsHill where we will take a right turn at the top and head back down to climb the Bowfield again AND REPEAT.   10. This week its Fixation 2019 which is a day out cycling around the Isle of Cumbrae. Have a Fixie ? bring it & Join us on our annual trip round the island of the Great Cumbrae,cafe stop and lunch at the Crocodeli in Millport. Fantastic social event,bring yourself, your bike & some good Craic. Dont have a Fixie ? Bring what you have and but dont change gear ! All welcome the more the merrier. Various ways of getting to the island detailed below. Big Ring Abbey to Largs via Kilbirnie and back would be 76 miles which includes 3 x circuits of the island. Middle Ring Abbey to Largs Via Kilbirnie (23 miles) and the train back from Largs 53 miles. Wee Ring (Please look out for Wattsap updates on how we plan to get to Largs) We have a few ways of getting to Largs depending on numbers. Cars to Largs and 3 x the island 30 miles. Train to Largs although the 1st one is at 09:50 from Gilmour street. Weather looks descent but cold so wrap up warm, Bring a helmet, spare tubes, tools, nutrition and a drink Plenty fluids. Money for coffee/tea, and a mobile phone......and your bike!! BIG/MIDDLE RINGS will be leaving from Paisley Town Hall at 08:00 for the so get there just before 07:50.

  12. This route is very much weather permitting as the forecast looks wet at the moment with 13 mph winds so this could change between now and Sunday. This weeks Sunday ride we will combine both rings and split at 25 miles in. This Sunday we will leave the Abbey at 9am as usual, heading out towards Inchinnan,,Bishopton,Ingleston and loop on to Houston where we will head for BOW and the famous Torr Rd where we will take a left and climb up and over Carruthmuir and down into Howood (The wee ring can split at Howood and head for Paisley roughly 30 miles) the rest will carry on up the Bowfield then head up past Greenacres and head for the Canny man where we will return to the Abbey via Lochlibo Rd. Approximately 40 miles and 2048 ft. of climbing. And 30 miles for the wee ring. Bring a helmet, spare tubes, tools, nutrition and a drink Plenty fluids. Money for coffee/tea, and a mobile phone......and your bike!! As it is into winter riding bikes should have lights and mudguards fitted ( THE POLIS WILL BE WATCHING ) A few new roads on there for a lot of us, so please LOOK AT THE ROUTE AND FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH IT! You might be on the front when it's time to turn, make sure you know when and where! We are only as fast as the slowest rider, regrouping top of hills, we start together, we finish together.   14. Sunday looks a poor day for cycling see below from Derek : Clearly we are in the midst of very wintery weather this week. We changed our route last wee due to the wind so I am not plotting a particular route this week. We will watch the forecast over the next day or 2 and if it is safe to go out on roads bikes then we will be out! However, if you like your off road riding then watch out for a post for a ride off the beaten track, perhaps up the Glennifer Braes. Might be tempted myself for the first time!! Thanks Derek
  15. This saturday the forecast looks very cold but dry so far, however the condition of the roads may affect this run but this could change between now and Saturday .
